Conditions for consideration of scholarships for international students at schools will be different:
- Some universities integrate the review of the average score (GPA) in 2 years in Vietnam or the average score of transferred subjects when students apply for admission to consider the possibility of having a scholarship. For these schools, there is no need for an additional scholarship application process. The most important condition to get a scholarship is to be admitted to the school with a good GPA that meets the scholarship review requirements (for example, usually from 75% or higher).
- In addition to the admission application, most other scholarship applications require additional scholarship documents with the following criteria:
- Average score: GPA of 2 years in Vietnam or GPA of transferable subjects must be at least what number or higher (usually 75% or higher)
- Essay: In addition to the GPA factor, students will be required to complete at least 01 essay on a given topic. This is an important basis for evaluation during the scholarship exam process.
- Interview: Some highly ranked and competitive schools will require in-person or online interviews to assess student abilities.
- Letters of Recommendation: Two or more letters of recommendation from past Lecturers or Supervisors may be required.
- Evidence of extracurricular activities: Certificates or evidence of achievements and activities other than your main studies at school will be a great strength to help your profile be evaluated more highly.
Most of the students who graduated from KUV after 2 years have transferred to partner universities with a minimum scholarship of 30% or more.
7. After 2 years of studying in Vietnam, what is the percentage of successful transfer to study abroad? What conditions must be met to transfer?
The ability to transfer successfully depends on the student's academic performance for the 2 years in Vietnam, English ability, and future study plans and family financial capacity. According to statistics, in the last 4 academic years from 2019-2023, the visa issuance rate after graduating from the program at KUV is 94%.
To prepare for the highest success rate of transfer, you need to pay attention to the following factors:
- Academic ability: This is most clearly demonstrated through your transcripts for 2 years in Vietnam. The average score is usually encouraged to be at least 75% (or other equivalent letter grades); and minimize grades C equivalent to "just passing" and grades D or F equivalent to "failed". Especially for those pursuing highly competitive and high-income majors including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Nursing and Law, the entry requirements of these majors will be competitive accordingly, so the higher the score, the greater the chance of being admitted and granted a visa.
- English proficiency: You will be studying and living in another country, so language proficiency is an extremely important factor for you to be accepted into university as well as receive a nod from the consulate. Many universities waive the English entrance exam for students who have graduated for 2 years in Vietnam. To convince the consulate, you need to convey information fully, clearly and confidently as evidence of your English communication skills to the consulate.
- Study plan: You need to explain your study plan as specifically and clearly as possible, about the reason you chose the school and the major you are preparing to transfer to, the time and location, who you will be staying with, what you expect to learn during your time abroad and what your plans are after graduation. Prove to the consulate that this decision to study abroad is yours instead of someone else's, that you have prepared and planned for it in advance and understand very well why you want to go to that country, what job you will do and how you will do it. Confidence and authenticity are key, you are not asking anything from anyone, you have prepared carefully and paid for this conversation.
- Financial preparation: You need to prove that you have enough money to study and live for one year with the tuition fees specified by each school to be accepted to study at the school. Bring these financial documents along with all other financial documents of your financial sponsor, which can be your parents or other relatives in the family. All documents must be translated into two languages and be originals.
